MMI’s mission is to lead the world in transforming the lives of all individuals with disabilities and special health care needs, their families and communities through outreach, engagement, premier educational programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care. The Speech-Language Pathology Department at MMI consists of 28 SLPs and 3 faculty with a wide range of specialties, including motor speech, language, voice, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), cognitive-communication disorders, and swallowing. We provide inpatient services to Nebraska Medicine and Nebraska Medicine-Bellevue, support multidisciplinary clinics (ALS, Parkinson’s Disease, Concussion, Head & Neck Cancer), provide AAC services for Omaha Public Schools, and provide outpatient services at MMI. We are located near mid-town Omaha, a progressive and vibrant metropolitan area.
We are looking for an SLP who is interested in working in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Center. Clinical opportunities include evaluation and treatment of patients in five different ICUs, supporting trach and vented populations, feeding and swallowing services in the NICU, and provision of MBS and FEES assessments. There may also be opportunities to support outpatient services or multidisciplinary clinics. As part of an academic medical center, The University of Nebraska Medical Center, we are committed to teaching students and advancing the field of speech-language pathology through research and other scholarly activities. The Department actively participates in monthly journal club and TheraChat conferences to ensure evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities include: Providing diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice or swallowing disorders, participating in scholarly activities, providing training about speech pathology to students and other healthcare providers, and ensuring appropriate record keeping. You will be required to provide weekend and holiday coverage for inpatients.
Requirements
Job requirements include: Master’s Degree from an accredited university, Certificate of Clinic Competency (CCC), and a Nebraska license.
